2022 Women's PRO-AM RECAP

WOAH BUDDY…The Women’s PRO-AM 2022

Two 10 Hour days later, The DG Team put on a show and have some hardware to show for it!

Let’s kick off this meet report with Amateur Day

Kicking off Saturday morning were Hannah Lewis and Erin Belangia-Sanchez, nerves and energy were high. That first squat really sets the tone for the day, the feeling of crushing your opener is like no other. Both ladies got their first squats, moved smoothly onto seconds, and Erin had a perfect 3/3 on the squats ending at 200#, Hannah went ⅔ closing squats out at a smooth 175#.

While Hannah and Erin were crushing squats on the platform Emily Facheux was warming up in the back with Coach James. With 20+ lifters per flight, timing was important, and there were long rest periods between attempts. Emily kicked off the day smoking her opener at 325# and coming off of a back injury that was the only successful squat of the day. Depth issues plagued her.

Erin Norris closed out the squats in Flight C with a massive 515# …all three attempts looking like cake! The suit and wraps were set to perfection with the combined help of our DC buds and DG crew.

After a short break, the mono was moved and The Sweatt Shop team brought in the bench! Erin and Hannah both set personal PR’s with a 130# and 90# Benches. Followed by Emily Rocking her old PR and hitting a HUGE 215# PAUSED, a weight she has never touched in the gym! Erin N. worked that shirt ending with a 260# bench and a very near miss at 270#.

NOW the real FUN, onto the DEADLIFT! The flights moved so fast, the smell of ammonia and baby powder flooded the air, and the ENERGY was WILD! Hannh and Emily kicked us off again. Hannah rocked the heck out of her conventional deadlift finishing at 185# and a small PR. Now, Erin recently switched to the sumo deadlift, and it was a great switch! She finished the day with a huge PR of 230#. Emily was focused on finalizing a solid, total and moved 315# like an empty bar going 3/3. Erin N was feeling the squat, bench, but pulled out a huge 415# deadlift to secure her PR total.

Amateur day was a huge success for the team, all ladies medaled, and their teammates showed up in a big way wrapping, helping with warm-ups and showing support!

Amber Hansen always puts on a show, and Pro day was no exception. She went 7/9 on the day with massive PR’s all around, and secured the 3rd place spot overall amidst a stacked field. She started the day hitting an 800# squat, the white whale she has been chasing the past 3 years. Her perseverance paid off big time! The bench shirt played nice and she smoked a 475# bench, and came so close she could taste it to  locking out a 500# bench. Closing out the day, Amber nixed the gear pulling out a 530# deadlift and taking 550# for a ride just shy of lockout. The top 3 were so close all day, going lift for lift, only a few points separating them. IT WAS WILD to witness!

The Women’s Pro-Am is by far one of my favorite events every year, The Sweatt shop team always puts on a smooth meet with the best spotting, loading and hype in the game. The perfect event to cap out a training cycle for the DG Team!
